Luminescence

Rising from the canal floor, 1,500 reflective bubbles floated along the Scottsdale Canal mimicking seaweed. In daylight, the translucent bubbles created an illusion on the surface of the water while they absorbed the energy of the Arizona sun. As the sun set, the bubbles took on a surprising new life as they began to glow. Anchored to the canal floor, the bubbles were free to sway and move, illustrating the currents of the water. Ranging in size from 4 to 12 inches, the bubbles were filled by hand with reflective and phosphorescent materials. As they twisted and spun on their lines, they sparkled like gemstones in the Arizona sunlight. After daylight faded the phosphorescence began to glow and carry the movement of the canal through the night.
